Blue Star gratefully accepts donations to help with our
projects of sharing Spirituality with the people! Blue Star was formed and
dedicated to the teachings of Mary Elizabeth Thunder.
Blue
Star is dedicated to maintaining spiritual centers, at Thunder Ranch, West
Point, Texas & at Big Indian, New York, where people of all races can come
to connect Spiritual ideologies of life, some of which are linked to the past of
this North American continent, the ways of Indigenous Ones. They can do this by
coming to gatherings & experiencing Indigenous Ones in person, or
attending workshops or gatherings, or experiencing 3,000-year-old Native
American ceremonies: ceremonies of purification and prayer (the Sacred
Inipi~~Sweat Lodge), of connecting to a power greater than themselves (the
Sacred Chunapa~~Sacred Pipe), of seeking a vision for their lives and for the
planet (Vision Quest).
We have Blue
Star Inc, a 501c(3) a Church Organization and Blue Star Services, Inc.
501a(1) Education & Service Organization. These two allied organizations are
usually collectively referred to as Blue Star.
Thunder
Ranch is and has been a host to many gatherings of indigenous elders from around
the world, ceremonies, workshops and seminars.
It's doors
are open to people who have experienced problems with alcohol and drug abuse,
sexual abuse, and many of life’s serious problems, with some people signing on
to stay at the Ranch for a length of time to help run the Ranch and heal
themselves and others.
In addition,
Thunder travels across the country and the world lecturing on spirituality,
bringing the ceremonies and workshops to the people, and providing a broader
avenue for others to experience
life. There
are many annual activities that are carried out at the Ranch and across the
country, as well as Vision Quests, Yuipi, and other ceremonies in Europe and
other parts of the world. Aside from the scheduled annual events, Blue Star,
Inc., has a history of assisting tribal elders, sends gifts and donations to
other communities that might need it, and steps in to help during emergencies.
For example, in 2001 Blue Star serviced approximately 400 people during the year
for a variety of emergency services, from offering food & food baskets, gas
money & tires for road travelers, paying for plane tickets for sick people
& people trying to get home, & in the winter striving to help
cover some utility bills for elders.
Over the past
nine years, Blue Star has an annual Christmas Project, which involves collecting
food, gifts, money and emergency needs for over 74 elders and a Native American
boarding school in South Dakota. In 2000, Blue Star sent over 500 boxes of new
clothes, toys, food, school supplies and home supplies for the 250 children at
the school, as well as 100 blankets for
Elders. Blue
Star has ministers, spiritual counselors and support groups throughout the U.S.
and internationally, including Arkansas, South Carolina, Washington, D.C.,
Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Indiana, Kentucky,
California, Washington State, as well as affiliated groups in Holland, England,
Australia, France, Switzerland, and
Italy. Another
very important activity at the Ranch is the ongoing spiritual and experiential
recovery programs and workshops for corporations and their employees, as well as
youth group programs (which are also done on the road). Aside from staging
ceremony for the youth, troubled teens from a sexual offenders program in
Austin, Texas regularly participate in activities and ceremonies at the Ranch.
Addiction counselor training through POMS (Path of Maximum Service)
certification programs is held, as well as workshops and retreats for those
suffering from addictions. Over the years, many people recovering from
addictions or other problems have come to live temporarily and work to aid their
healing process. After moving away, they have continued to form the patchwork
community of Blue Star, bringing the teachings to people of their own community
and spreading our own in an ever-widening circle of community.
In 1987,
Thunder started sharing a Vision that she had been given from spirit. It was a
workshop where Three healing paradigms merged, The Native American Ceremonial
Traditional was blended with Modern Addiction Counseling Techniques then the
adding the most popular 12 Step Program. Many thousands of people have attended
& gained control of their addictions thru the concept of ceremony &
service to others & many have found they were "put" on their Spiritual
Paths. Thunder is the process of writing a book about the "Path of Maximum
Service" her vision of it.
